Wow, Tyler is already 1 week old!

Time is really flying by now that Tyler has arrived. He is already a week old and it seems like he was born just yesterday. We went for a 1 week check up yesterday and he weighed in at 7 lbs even and was 20 inches long. He is already growing like a weed! Our weight check on Saturday, July 17 he weighed 6 lbs, 7.9 oz. We are suppose to go for a two week check next week, but Colbi (our doctor) is on vacation, so we go back on August 2.

He eats about every 2-3 hours, so I'm getting some sleep at night. I've been trying to nap a little during the day just to stay rested. My mom is here and she has been a great help. She has day duty as we like to call it. She brought along lots of projects for herself and she is getting them done as well as spoiling her first grandchild. Greg's parents are coming down this weekend to spend some time with Tyler and my mom is going home. I'm really thankful our parents are coming to stay. I know I need the help and Greg is gone a few nights here and there for work, so it's nice to have someone else here to help with Tyler and allow me to nap.

Tyler has gotten two sponge baths since being home and doesn't seem to mind the water. We went to Wal-Mart yesterday and he slept through the whole thing. He did really well for our first big trip to town. We left a little after 9:00 in the morning and didn't get back home until almost 12:30. He only fussed a few times but he was hungery once home! We took him outside today in the stroller and he did fine. He slept the entire time.

Crying usually means he is ready to eat, needs to burp, or is preparing to poop. We are still trying to get Greg to change poopy diapers. I don't understand how he can deal with cow poop all day, but not his son's. Oh well, Greg is an excellent burper and he gets Tyler up for me to feed in the night, so it is a fair trade off.

Our first night home was a little rough, but the last few nights have been better. It usually is about three feedings during the night with the last one usually around 5:30 or 6:00. So far breastfeeding has gone fairly well. I'm waiting for the 2 to 3 week time frame when everyone says you get to the point you want to quit. But I know to expect this, so I think that helps. Also, all the supportive friends who have been there and done that are a great resource.

I'll try to post some more pictures tomorrow. It takes forever for the internet to load pictures, so I'm not going to try tonight. It's been really hot here, with heat indexes over 100. Hopefully it will cool off some soon.
