Am I the only one not on vacation?

Half of my office has taken today, tomorrow, and some of next week off. I feel like I'm the only one not on vacation! Oh well, I'm about to have at least 8 weeks of vacation soon (I hope).

Today is a busy day for me. I have to run an errand before lunch, then I'm meeting Toni and Wyatt for lunch. I'm sure I'm going to be amazed how much he has grown in the last two weeks since I've seen him. I then have to hurry back for a phone call about a mentoring program. Greg and I are meeting our friends the Carr's tonight to catch up. They will be in Stillwater from Florida and it has been a long time since we have seen them. All in all, it should be a great day!

I finished the baby room last night. I think everything major is washed and put away for the time being. I hate to get overzealous and wash everything until the little one arrives and we know for sure what we will use and not use. The next step is to rearrange our bedroom and clean it so I can set the pack and play up until the cradle arrives. Oh, and pack the pesky hospital bag. Any suggestions on things to take to the hospital to occupy our time while I'm in labor? They suggest cards, books, movies, magazines, etc.

I packed books and magazines and didn't look at any of them. I tried to occupy the time by attempting to sleep and eating lots of popsicles & jello. Another tip, EAT SOMETHING light before you go to the hospital, even if you aren't hungry. Once you get to the hospital, they only let you eat jello, ice chips, and popsicles. I was starving after 23 hours of labor. I would take a magazine or two just in case you do want to read. Take something like People or OK magazine and make fun of the celebrities - you won't be in the mood for anything serious...trust me!

From our experience, there was no time or want for playing cards, reading etc. You both will probably have much bigger things are your mind!

You won't even read any mags or books- so pack your bag with other things like- warm socks, both pj's for warm and cold weather- My hormones were all out of wack and one day I was hot, the next cold. And do eat something light for going to the hospital. The only thing I got was ice and jello. Oh, and the pumpkin bread I made and brought with me. Our Doula said to make something like that to help us through labor bc she knew the nurses wouldn't give me much. It helped- 28 hours of labor and I needed somethin with substance. Also- I made the nurses some cookies. I looked at it this way- if they were going to be taking care of me, my hubby and baby- I wouldn't them to be happy! LOL
