It's GRADUATION time!

Graduation is officially drawing near. In 58 hours I will be an official graduate of Oklahoma State. Yippee! Only one more degree to go! (That is on hold though, I don't want to be a Dr. quite yet).

Today is the last day of my assistantship. BUT there is enough funding for me to stay on at the 4-H office until June 30th, if I want. I am staying until I find a job or something else comes up.

I'm taking tomorrow and Friday off. I HAVE to clean tomorrow to prepare for the guests. I keep putting it off, but I have done a little each night. Greg hasn't been home before 9:30 this week so it is up to me.

The weather is beautiful, although windy. It is suppose to be gusts up to 40 mph today, but 85 degrees. Amanda and I are going to play tennis tonight, if the wind isn't too bad. Tanya and I walked last night. I am REALLY out of shape! My stupid shin splits keep acting up. That reminds me of a song from middle school.

What happened to the weekend?

Time is really starting to fly by. I can't believe it's Monday and almost 4 PM.

Thursday night I went on a "date" with my friend Kara. We went to dinner and then headed out to the Tumbleweed for Calffry. We saw Nick Gibson, Wade Bowen, and Stoney LaRue in concert. We also made fun of people and their choices in clothing. I guess that's what happens when you get old and go out on a weeknight.

Friday Greg and I went to the Oklahoma Angus banquet. We joined the Oklahoma Association. The funny part is we have horses, but no cows. Well, I still have a few in Missouri, I think. Mark keeps talking about getting rid of a couple of them, something about them being a pain in his rear. We went to the hotel bar afterwards, which it was karoke night. I actually sang last year here, but my partner in crime was absent this year.

Saturday we went to TransOva for a little bit and then headed to Stillwater to go to the sale. Greg promised we wouldn't stay for the WHOLE sale, but guess who stayed for the ENTIRE sale. (I got bored). We headed over to the Territory (western store) for Greg to look at some new boots. While I was waiting on him, I found a pair of boots. My plan is to wear Greg down and with the tax refund, buy them. He actually liked them and agreed I needed new boots, so hopefully it won't be too hard.
We then headed home for Greg to go breed some cows. We then turned around and headed back to Stilly for Calffry. We went to a pre-Calffry gathering for awhile with Cody and his roomies. We finally got to Calffry where I proceeded to freeze to death. We saw No Justice and Jason Boland in concert.
I slept in on Sunday and it was WONDERFUL! I did lots of laundry and attempted to clean house for this weekend. I think I'm going to spend all day on Thursday cleaning so our guests don't think we are slobs.
My parents, grandparents, and Greg's parents are all coming down for my GRADUATION!!! I graduate on Friday at 7PM. We are having a party on Saturday at our house, so hopefully it doesn't rain or isn't really windy. The guest list keeps growing.
I'm going to miss the state 4-H office. They are very good at having parties to celebrate special occassions. Last week we have ice cream floats for admin. assist. day, a breakfast for a birthday and today lunch for Kellie's and I's graduation. If we haven't partied for awhile, we have one just for fun.
Well, back to work, only a few more days of employment for me.

Greg's saddle

Greg and I had a productive weekend. He fixed the lawnmower and mowed the yard, we hung up a clothesline, we also hung up the hammock and then relaxed in it. It was a great way to spend a Sunday!

Saturday we picked up his saddle and then he used it later that day to gather some cows.

The saddle is modeled by Angus, his brother's horse (the horse he rides). Isn't she a beauty?

I helped him work a group of cows and magically, we didn't get mad or yell at each other.

I got some sun today. It was suppose to be in the mid 80s. For work we went a flew a kite and attempted to take pictures from it. This is the first time it didn't work. We are a little concerned because we are showing this to a class tomorrow.

I am officially done with my thesis! :) I turned everything in yesterday. I still need to get it printed and bound, but that is for me, so there isn't a rush on it. That's means I will graduate in 2 weeks!

My mom had surgery yesterday on her thumb. She said she had a pin sticking out the end, which totally freaks me out. She offered to keep it covered when she comes for graduation in two weeks. She said they blocked her arm and it was a weird feeling to being able to control it or move your fingers. When they got home from St. Louis, Mark had somehow injuried his ankle. Dad said put together they got 3 good arms and 3 good legs. It sounds like home is a dangerous place to be.

Greg finally got home last night around 10:30. He had been in Texas since Wednesday at a client's place. He asked me to help him tomorrow work cows. This will be interesting because we always end up yelling at each other.

On the bright side, his new saddle is in, so we are going to Enid to pick it up. He just needs a saddle blanket and he will be ready to rock and roll. Our horses had grown quite a bit when we saw them in March. I think mine is actually friendly and we will get her broke to ride (it's a red roan, I always a red or blue roan, but I was thinking in terms of a cow, not a horse). I don't know about Greg's, let's just say he is spirited. He found a stud to breed Angus (his brother's horse he rides right now). So, we are thinking about buying another horse for him to ride if Angus gets bred. He found one he likes and is a good horse, so we'll see what happens. If will get this other horse, we will have 3 horses and no cows. What is wrong with this picture????

I think the wind might actually calm down this weekend. That will be a welcome relief. It is suppose to get 70ish tomorrow and in the 80s on Sunday. I walked last night at Boomer with Tanya and the wind was pretty cold!

Next week is the big calffry in town www.calffry.com I bought a ticket and plan on going at least Thursday night with Kara. It is three nights worth of concerts. I think like 5 or 6 bands play each night. It is a huge event. I want to see Stoney LaRue and Wade Bowen play. Cross Canadian Ragweed play on Friday and Jason Boland plays on Saturday.

I might blow away!

The weather is nice and warm, but the wind makes it miserable! The temperature is in the 70s, but the wind is 30-50 mph. Last night Kara, Zoie (her dog) and I went walking at Boomer Lake and we almost blew in it was so windy!

Monday ....

I realized I hadn't written anything for awhile, so here is a catch up of the last two weeks.

Two of my fellow grad students successfully defended their thesis's. So we are all on track to graduate May 2. Yiippeee! Which means, graduation is less than three weeks away. I'm excited because my parents are coming down and maybe Greg's too.

We have had misc. problems with our rental home lately. We found a water leak, bought the wrong parts, then the right ones, so hopefully it is fixed now. We are still drying the carpet out though.

Greg and I played softball yesterday with the graduate student organization. I am hurting from it. I didn't properly stretch beforehand or I'm just out of shape!

For those of you who watched Miss USA on Friday night, Miss Oklahoma is the girlfriend of Asa, a friend of ours. Cody, a college student who works with Greg, flew to Vegas with Asa to cheer Lindsey on. The footage of boys cheering for her included them. She ended up being 3rd runner up, but we all think she got screwed.

Not much else is going on, my chair is reading my thesis for the final time, so hopefully I can get it turned in this week and be official done!
