Wow, Tyler is already 1 week old!

Time is really flying by now that Tyler has arrived. He is already a week old and it seems like he was born just yesterday. We went for a 1 week check up yesterday and he weighed in at 7 lbs even and was 20 inches long. He is already growing like a weed! Our weight check on Saturday, July 17 he weighed 6 lbs, 7.9 oz. We are suppose to go for a two week check next week, but Colbi (our doctor) is on vacation, so we go back on August 2.

He eats about every 2-3 hours, so I'm getting some sleep at night. I've been trying to nap a little during the day just to stay rested. My mom is here and she has been a great help. She has day duty as we like to call it. She brought along lots of projects for herself and she is getting them done as well as spoiling her first grandchild. Greg's parents are coming down this weekend to spend some time with Tyler and my mom is going home. I'm really thankful our parents are coming to stay. I know I need the help and Greg is gone a few nights here and there for work, so it's nice to have someone else here to help with Tyler and allow me to nap.

Tyler has gotten two sponge baths since being home and doesn't seem to mind the water. We went to Wal-Mart yesterday and he slept through the whole thing. He did really well for our first big trip to town. We left a little after 9:00 in the morning and didn't get back home until almost 12:30. He only fussed a few times but he was hungery once home! We took him outside today in the stroller and he did fine. He slept the entire time.

Crying usually means he is ready to eat, needs to burp, or is preparing to poop. We are still trying to get Greg to change poopy diapers. I don't understand how he can deal with cow poop all day, but not his son's. Oh well, Greg is an excellent burper and he gets Tyler up for me to feed in the night, so it is a fair trade off.

Our first night home was a little rough, but the last few nights have been better. It usually is about three feedings during the night with the last one usually around 5:30 or 6:00. So far breastfeeding has gone fairly well. I'm waiting for the 2 to 3 week time frame when everyone says you get to the point you want to quit. But I know to expect this, so I think that helps. Also, all the supportive friends who have been there and done that are a great resource.

I'll try to post some more pictures tomorrow. It takes forever for the internet to load pictures, so I'm not going to try tonight. It's been really hot here, with heat indexes over 100. Hopefully it will cool off some soon.

Welcome Tyler James Meier

Greg and I are proud to announce the birth of Tyler James Meier, today, July 13 at 1:01 p.m. He weighed 6 lbs, 12 oz and was 19 inches long. We are all doing well and are tentatively planning on going home Thursday morning. I highly recommend the epidural. Details to follow.

It looks like at least another week . . .

I'm not quite dilated to a two this week, so Baby Meier is not ready to meet the world yet.

We talked about inducing and my doctor would like to give my body and Baby Meier another week. So, he called the hospital to set a date and the earliest they could get me in is next Thursday, yes, July 22. Ideally, someone on the inducing list will go into labor this week and I'll get to move into an earlier day (like Monday or Tuesday). Or I'll go into labor naturally sometime this week/weekend. My doctor is on call this weekend, so we can have this kid then and it would be fine.

I'm getting pretty miserable and grumpy (just ask Greg). I'm starting to swell, can't get comfortable sleeping, have no energy by the end of the day, and I ache. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude, but sometimes it is a struggle. I'm going to work this week and work at least part days to conserve some sick leave. I think I'll drive myself crazy if I'm at home (and Greg too if he is there).

I'll keep you updated if something changes.

Week 39, Tuesday, the belly button was really sticking out!

Week 39, Wednesday

I didn't bring my camera cord with me today to upload pictures, but yesterday and today you can tell the baby is dropping from earlier this week. Hopefully this means Baby Meier is getting ready to make his/her debut soon!

What a day!

No, there's no baby, yet, but it was an interesting day.

The building my office is currently under renovation. However, we are one of the few offices that did not move out. So this makes each day very interesting and dangerous sometimes. The A/C has been questionable this week, so the office is sticky, muggy, and basically miserable. Then this afternoon the construction is disturbing the bug population so they decided to spray pesticides in our offices. No air movement, nothing, so I had to leave for awhile. Don't mind me, I don't have work to do. Then brown water starts literally raining down in our hallway from the 4th floor. Right before I left, the ceiling tiles collapsed. I decided to call it a day and head home.

They finally fixed the leak and ceiling tile in our conference room earlier this week. They also cracked a ceiling tile in our hallway last week from the drilling/hammering on the 4th floor. Luckily no bricks have fallen through the ceiling (yes that has happened) and there hasn't been a sewage smell (yep, happened too).

Greg is home, so the baby can come now. He was gone the past three nights so we didn't want a baby to come then. My doctor is out of town, but that's ok.

I'm way excited Big Brother is back on for the summer! Woo Hoo!

I'm going to try to post some belly pictures tomorrow at work. Pictures load really slow when I'm at home.

Work Baby Shower

My work has a monthly birthday/accomplishment party. For June, they added a baby shower for us.

I don't know about the face. Just roll with it. Everyone chipped in and we got a Wal-Mart gift card along with a few small items. I love this giraffe.

Monty made a baby buggy watermelon. How awesome is that?

The cake! What's a party/shower without a cake?

We are so very blessed to be surrounded with so many caring people in our lives. Thanks everyone for helping us prepare for Baby Meier's arrival!

39 weeks and counting . . .

Today is 39 weeks. I went to the doctor and I'm dilated to a 1, so we are progressing. I go back on Monday, unless I have this kid between now and then. Then we talk about inducing.

For those traveling, be safe and have a relaxing weekend!

Am I the only one not on vacation?

Half of my office has taken today, tomorrow, and some of next week off. I feel like I'm the only one not on vacation! Oh well, I'm about to have at least 8 weeks of vacation soon (I hope).

Today is a busy day for me. I have to run an errand before lunch, then I'm meeting Toni and Wyatt for lunch. I'm sure I'm going to be amazed how much he has grown in the last two weeks since I've seen him. I then have to hurry back for a phone call about a mentoring program. Greg and I are meeting our friends the Carr's tonight to catch up. They will be in Stillwater from Florida and it has been a long time since we have seen them. All in all, it should be a great day!

I finished the baby room last night. I think everything major is washed and put away for the time being. I hate to get overzealous and wash everything until the little one arrives and we know for sure what we will use and not use. The next step is to rearrange our bedroom and clean it so I can set the pack and play up until the cradle arrives. Oh, and pack the pesky hospital bag. Any suggestions on things to take to the hospital to occupy our time while I'm in labor? They suggest cards, books, movies, magazines, etc.
