So, my coworkers officially think I'm crazy. Monday afternoon we volunteered at a golf tournament. The course was out of the city limits and is beautiful. As we were driving, I made the comment about hunting mushrooms in the woods while we were waiting on golfers. My 4 coworkers who were on the golf cart with me all thought I had been smoking mushrooms or something. They had NEVER heard of hunting mushrooms. As I tried to explain the concept, the situation did not improve. They thought it was funny it was "hunting" instead of looking. I was asked if they try to run away when you find them.
Today we are back in the office, so I googled morel mushrooms to show them what they looked like. In the process, I found a DVD on how to hunt mushrooms. Seriously, there is a DVD about this! Also you can buy a kit to cultivate your own morel mushroom garden. Anyway, I thought this was strange no one had ever heard of this before.
I talked to my parents last night and they were EATING freshly picked MUSHROOMS!
This made me miss Missouri some.

I think mushroom hunting might be a Missouri thing because I hadn't heard of it either!
People just don't know what they are missing! The climate around here has something to do with it. Rain and warm days. I haven't been "hunting" yet this year, but I know lots of people have found them. My Dad used to always tell me to look around dead oak trees.
I have never heard of or participated in hunting mushrooms. This must be a Missouri thing.
